These steam locomotives were built as compensation for WWII, by
the Italians, in 1951. They where the largest and heaviest steam
locomotives that ran on the Peloponnese Railways. It is a classic
"Mikado" arrangement that did not prove so successful. The loco-
motives were heavy and underpowered, thus proving insufficient for
the network. This is the reason why they did not pull trains on the
steep line between Korinth - Tripolis - Zevgolatio. So their service
was limited to the coastal line, on the northern and western part of
the Peloponnese, pulling both passenger and freight trains.
They started to be withdrawn from service in the 60's and currently
none of them is in working order nor will there be. This is attributed
to the fact that these steam locomotives were the most problematic
type in the history of the network.
